The Fellsman 2015

Season due to commence 27th May, Wednesday this week. Might the events of Friday 22nd and the effect on the Statesman train the following day affect operations?

 

Fellsman season shouldn't be affected, just awaiting to hear what loco will be hauling the first train of the season but iv heard rumour it might be 48151.

The 8f is not ready yet I believe so would think 45699 will do the honours as it will still be warm from today's run .

 

Plus a 47

 

Not normal for a 47 yet Henry unless the fire risk is evident .

Five minutes down off Preston. Class 37 on the rear. Told that all WCRC steam now limited to 10 cars unassisted, hence diesel on the rear.

 

About 2L at Chapel Lane, Hoghton. Galatea doing most of the work and making all the right noises. Speed up the bank and the sound of 37 would indicate it was assisting, but "not a lot".

 

That'll cost; assuming today's Fellsman has 10 coaches one assumes the leading vehicle to be support coach hence 9 coaches for paying passengers; add 3 coaches for Class 37 diesel and 45699 at 6P is set to haul 13 coaches (equivalent). I hope the profit margin is sufficient to cover the "dead weight".

 

Wonder how this affects the economics 10 vs 11 coaches means adding a diesel? Fellsmans always seem fully booked, if you have to provide a diesel do you add another couple of coaches? I guess the purists will be off on another round of moaning - yet another reason to slag off DS and WCRC! Ah well, much though I'd like a full loaf, I'm glad to receive the halves - much better than it seemed a month ago.

 

Is that for all, WC, operated tours ?

 

What about dropping the box on the back and running double headed jubilees with 13 on - we all will be happy then

46233 had 11 on Saturday?

 

45690 had 11 on last Tuesdays Dalesman too.
