On 8th September next year it is the 50th anniversary of the final run of the Pines Express over the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway. The train was hauled by 9F no. 92220 Evening Star. As there are small number of 9Fs in service at the moment on our preserved railways, I think it would be a shame to let the anniversary pass without a gala or a series of special trains to remember the date. <BJ>

Perhaps try suggesting this to the MHR or WSR? They have put on superb S&D Galas in the past. Now who can persuade a loco owner to turn out their 9F in Green as 92220 as the real one has no chance of returning to steam in the near future?

It'd be great for a small display to be put together under the trainshed at Bath Green Park - perhaps centred around a suitably mounted reproduction 'Pines' headboard.

One for the Bath Railway Society, perhaps...?

    Cheers,

    Phil.
