Couldn't see a thread for this longish day trip.

    Timings for outbound leg:
    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U52299/2019/07/27/advanced
    the return:
    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U52303/2019/07/27/advanced

Hoping for a decent run down the ECML, apart from the almost an hour sitting at Ferryhill South Junction.

Any other NP members on this?

Looks like it's going to be another wet Saturday on the fells and along the Tyne Valley. It's getting to be a habit.

After the week we've had..............thank god. A good soaking diminishes the possibility of a steam ban.

True but if that’s the case surely the move would’ve been cancelled :(

RTT still showing 10.22 to 11.00 in WTT column for Hellifield, Realtime does weird things to the times in the Realtime column. Points have been faulty for months, standard path now includes wait in Down Shipley Slow at Skipton to allow following service train to pass and hence enable loco change in platform at Hellifield.

Peter James (will that do?) here. This is news to me but I am only the guard! AFAIK it is Leander on its own from Hellifield to York.

It was like a swamp there last Saturday morning (20th) for 60163 and 6201 and just before 70000 came through on the return on the 17th the heavens opened and stayed that way all through the night and into the next day. The vegetation is lush and green. You couldn't start a fire there with petrol, never mind a hot coal.

Photo 17/7 in rain you could hardly see through until just before Britannia arrived, when it went from torrential to just pissing down.
