Vintage Trains presents 'The High Peak' with ex-LMS Black Five 45305.

Working the train throughout from Tyseley Warwick Road via Derby, Chesterfield, Whittington, Sheffield, Dore and the impressive scenery of the Hope Valley to Chinley East Jn.

45305 will tackle the formidable climb up to Buxton via Dove Holes Tunnel, Great Rocks Junction and the surviving stub of the former Midland Railway route from Matlock.

At present, the Black Five is still undergoing repairs for it to be ready for the GCR LNER themed Gala between 8th-10th October.

Booked on this, surely 45305 must be putting in an appearance soon if there's going to be sufficiant time to run everything in and get Mainline tested etc ?.

    The High Peak - 23rd October 2010 - 45305

i am looking to gets some decent photographs up in derbyshire and i wonder if anyone has any recommendations of where to get some decent photographs?

i was planning on going to chesterfield to see some high speed running but then realised it will be slowing down to transfer onto the slow line to go via barrow hill around into sheffield and dore onto buxton.

please could someone advise of a good rail station to get some good shots? i had thought of Dove holes or Chapel le firth?

UK Steam informs that the tour is fully booked. No timings yet though.

Could someone please clarify if the tour is returning by the 'same route' as stated on the Vintage Trains website or via Stockport and Romiley as per the original plan. If the former will the loco run light to Chinley triangle and back to turn?

Please post some info. What they actually say on the forum is this "If you have access to these timings it is acceptable to post outline timings for mainline tours/light engine/stock moves" - I think any issues have come from the wholesale copying or linking to the detailed TOC documents. The mods can correct me if I'm wrong....

Yes thats right Steve. The reason that we did bring in that rule was due to some members scanning and attaching documents for the use of TOC's, Network Rail etc. There is no problem with posting the outline times as you have said.

I may be able to get out to see this before work on Saturday depending on the times.

    Thanks, Neil.
