Anyone expecting this latest attempt by RTC to run steam out of St. Pancras to actually happen ?

I for one hope it does, but am reluctant to book given the fate of previous attempts.

    How do others feel ?

I have booked not just for St Pancras but for 46115 ( have not had a run behind her on the mainline yet).

Tempted, but my reason for booking would be St. Pancras, as I've done most of that itinerary before on the 'Lincoln Imp', whilst I did 46115 in the south the last time it ventured in this direction. So I have to weigh-up the £110 cost and the likelihood it will run from St. Pancras.

Exactly my thoughts. I've not had a trip behind 46115, and would like to do one, but the record on booked locomotives actually appearing seems to have been very poor just recently so that too is a disincentive.

To echo a previous post of Big Al's I'm afraid I'll be waiting until a few days before the tour runs and taking a chance on it being fully booked.

This trip has disappeared from the RTC website.

I can't say I'm surprised frankly. I raised doubts about it further up thread. Disappointing indeed, but paths out of STP must be so tight these days it'd probably need there to be an EMT strike or something to make a steam run out of there possible.

That said, I seem to remember the Welsh Borders tour last year disappearing for the site for a bit and then reappearing so may still be on. Let's hope so, : )

Why would West Coast send 46115 to London just for one trip? OK - if the RTC pays for it then it might happen but it is an expensive option. Anyway, we do know that this is a loco that might feign illness to stay at home!

Well quite, which raises the question once again about advance advertising of tours, some highly attractive, which may in reality have little chance of running as specified.

Ok, that sounds more like a website glitch then I'd say. Not the first time that's happened.

Maybe cost of bringing down SG has been included in steam dream level price of £110?

It's probably called a Pancras Premium. Shame it doesn't look possible to find a path through Market Harborough and Leicester, as that would automatically swing it for me. I'll have to see how the finances are closer to the time, although it has to be said, there are others I'm very tempted to do.

Having emailed RTC for clarification on the running of this tour I have today received this reply :-

    Thank you for your email.

I am afraid the tour has been removed as we are unsure as to whether it will run or not.

Keep an eye on the website for updates regarding the tour.

    Kind regards,

    Julia Barrett

That's helpful early information for everyone. I wonder what has changed since what I assume was the usual "planning and checking before advertising" process. The curve ball usually seems to be Network Rail in these situations.

That's interesting. Presumably whatever uncertainty arose has now been sorted out.

Hmmm, SG over Harringworth, now there is a juicy prospect that will tempt me into a 200 mile + road trip. I won't hold my breath tho.

Rarity of steam on the Midland Mainline, and out of St Pancras erges me to get it from Bedford all the way to Lincoln. Perhaps St Pancras, Bedford, Barrow-upon-soar, Lincoln, and Sandy on the return. Could be good (that's if it runs out of International)

Some of us may actually book on it so it runs. Otherwise you linesiders may have nothing to chase. :)

Not done a trip for a couple of years, nothing tempts me, but this one sure does. IF I could be sure it would run as advertised they would have my money now.

    (thats a big if BTW)
