Does anyone on here have tickets for Saturday's trip from Three Bridges to Weymouth and back? Any news yet of route, timings, etc. yet? I've not found anything on RTT yet, nor a L/E or ECS move from Carnforth to bring Tangmere back south. I realise there are a few days to go...

UKSteam are showing a provisional E+C movement from Crewe to Southall on Thursday for 34052.
    Possible substitute for Tangmere??

That's for the Crystal Palace FC trip to Southampton not the Weymouth run

Unless 34046 is able to step in, it's hard to think of anything else that could work it, especailly with a clearance issue at (I think) Hamble.

I can't see 34046 being offered the day before her big come-back party. Had the dates been the other way around, things might have been different. However, we can't write off 34067 yet. I'd expect an ECS working from Carnforth on Friday with 34067 and at least one DL, but we'll probably have to wait for Ralph to fly over Carnforth yard in his microlight on Thursday afternoon to tell us what's in steam... ;)

Just had an email saying the tour has been postponed until TBC....

34067 wouldn't have hauled it 45699 would have if it hadn't failed last week.

While probably true it might start to seem, to those of us with a suspicious mind, that we aren't going to get much steam in the south anymore........

    For a brief minute there...

    I thought

    what if...

34067 went LE to crewe and both it and 34046 double headed to Southall.

dream on, it's past my bedtime.

Fully expected the postponement but surprised that 45699 was the planned motive power.

I don't think that we should despair for the prospects for steam in the south, especially with Clan Line looking for more non-British Pullman work and the potential of the Hosking Belle - i.e, the rake of stock being restred at Crewe to be used with the Icons of Steam fleet. However, in the short term, such main line steam as is booked to run in the south, apart from the Flying Scotsman trains and Tornado's runs over the Surrey Hills with the Pullmans, could produce some quite interesting motive power as Mayflower is due to be out of action for longer than planned and goodness knows what is going on with Tangmere.

Interesting... times appeared in RTT late yesterday, just about the same time that @AMP received his email from RTC. They don't show any l/e moves to/from Yeovil, but there is a reversal at Eastleigh, so the plan was probably DL leading Weymouth - Eastleigh on the return.

I wonder if a Jubilee really has been gauged for the Hamble line...?

Sad for everyone who's booked but was going to miss it on Saturday so postponement a personal bonus. Would have been good if it was the Jubilee though.

That's a pity. If it was 45699 I'd have gone out to see it as it would have made a nice change to 34067 which is getting a bit boring (I can see why it keeps getting chosen though) and a rare run South for 45699.

Also Jubs were occasionally seen on Cross Country runs on the Brighton Line so it's historically appropriate.
