Don't think Tyseley have had timings off NR yet, my cousin (who made our booking) phoned the other day and got told that apparently when wondering why no tickets yet.

Its the same story with the RTC Bridgnorth- Minehead. No timings from NR. SVR have it in the WTT for Saturday but it appears to fall into a black hole after 0757 at Kidderminster.

Hopefully the times appear and I can catch both of these.

The provisional NR times for the Bridgnorth-Minehead train have been available for some time at www.uksteam.info, but I don't have the SVR times.

Shouldn't RTC Bridgnorth to Minehead have its own thread?

Cousin says tickets have arrived so some vague timings for you:

    Tyseley: 07:08*
    LLandudno: 11:52

    LLandudno: 17:45*
    Tyseley: 22:12

If we're on time arriving in Llandudno should be able to see most of the Blades Display Team display currently scheduled for 1200.

    Current Air Tattoo timetable
    • 12:00 – Blades Display Team
    • 12:35 – Embraer EMB 312 Tucano
    • 13:00 – de Havilland DH.100 Vampire
    • 14:15 – The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (RAFBBMF)
    • 14:50 – Mustang P51D “Jumpin’ Jacques”
    • 15:20 – Canberra XH134
    • 15:45 – RAF Falcons
Should be a good day out.

That makes sense, drag back from Llan Town to Junction and vice versa for return ?, fairly flat route so shoulden't interfere much if at all.

300mm is what I'll have as well. Been trying to find some vantage point on the Great Orme that's not blocked by buildings, trees or hillside. From what I can see on Google maps there's a viewpoint beyond the end of Hill Terrace just behind the Grand Hotel. Might have to have a mooch round when I get there.

Was LMarsh1987 refering to the Seaside Flyer or the RTC Bridgnorth to Minehead? There's definitely diesel on the RTC tour as far as Bristol and for the return.

Good point, though I recall when 4965 and 5043 doubleheaded this itinery in the past, they went top n tail down the town branch, I don't know for sure, but that implies no operable run round at Llandudno Town.

Correct, no run road for years now, and I don't think the platform is long enough for the train to remain either, so it has to be in and out between services. Then I believe the loco has to go all the way to Valley to turn......

You don't need to go to the top of the Orme or even beyond the half way station. Try a Google street level climb on the tramway up Old Road into Ty-Gwyn Road and look around. It depends on how close you want to be.

The tickets and times were sent to the passengers via 1st class post yesterday (Tuesday) so they should land anytime soon.

We had planned on 5043 going alone. We were going to propel the train into the reinstated carriage sidings at Llandudno, but there's has been a delay with the sidings. So, we have to take the 47 on the back for the drag out of Llandudno.

But....we have the water carrier with us, so not only do,we have to run the 47 and 5043 round, but we also have to run REG around also. The only (viable) solution is to turn the entire train at Chester, complete with passengers. This does mean that the run from Chester to Llandudno will be diesel led with 5043 running tender first on the rear.

However, the run home in the evening is pretty quick as we are not stopping for water....and we again run through New Street so an evening departure from Llandudno doesn't result in a midnight return to Tyseley.

There is bags of time to see all the air show and enjoy the sights and sounds of the wonderful seaside resort that is Llandudno.

I'm sure the fast run home with the Castle, will make up for the necessary 47 haulage.
