Over the last few years the Diesel Gala has supported a local charity. This years charity is the RNLI and as part of this with kind help and support of SWT and UK Railtours we are pleased to welcome this tour as part of our "Day on the Mule" themed day on the Thursday before the gala.

"Day on the Mule"...aka West of England Day..

"The Swanage Railway is staging a special one-day event entitled 'A Day on the West of England Main Line' bringing together several generations of motive power that gave sterling service between London Waterloo and the West Country over the past half century.
A Bulleid Pacific represents the golden age of steam while classes 33 and 50 recall the uncertain times of the 'seventies and 'eighties. The 159 that works the tour from Salisbury will also run in normal service on the Swanage Railway to portray the last twenty years of Waterloo to Exeter.
The tour is being run to raise funds for a new Swanage Lifeboat and will be formed of just one 3-car Class 159 set, so accommodation is limited. The train will call at Corfe Castle on both outward and return journeys and the break at Swanage will be of nearly five hours.
On this occasion your tour ticket will be valid throughout the afternoon on the Swanage Railway so it really is a great deal!"
