I see the twins are working in Scotland & Lancs/Yorkshire on the same day:confused:

I know it says TBA for the Tin Bath, wonder which 2 locos will do this then, possibly a Jub!!! or 2

Why not any 2 from 45212( if ready) 45231, 45305 and 44932 for the Cathedrals Explorer. 44871 & 45407 have been rostered for "The Tin Bath" for months and Ian Riley put a posting on "The Works" that 2 of his 3 Black 5's would be involved with that tour. I appreciate things can change but Ian is not a person who lets people down, indeed quite the opposite and with his locos rostered for other RTC work during the year he seems to have good working relationship with RTC. I recently received a letter from Steam Dreams
saying their Cathedrals Explorer would be hauled by 2 Black 5's in Scotland but it did not specify which ones. I suppose time will tell.

    Hi,
According to Network Rail there is now engineering work between Hebden Bridge and Rochdale / Burnley Manchester Road, buses replace trains 10th & 11th May.
Does this mean another date change or a route change in store?
    Regards,
    John.

Now a loco update for this, 44932 + 48151 ( at least we'll get up the hills !)

If they changed the date they would technically only need to put it back by 1 week though, there's no engineering work anywhere on the route on the 18th.

Still saying 11th May on RTC website, though it could just be that they are still trying to confirm a new date to run it

..and routed through Manchester Victoria and up Platting Bank as per last year but there's time for further amendments yet.

Managed to get a ticket, some availability now. MP now 70013 from Preston joined by 61994 at Manchester Vic, diesel back from Man-Preston. Letter from RTC today. BUT Barnsley/Penistone is off--shame. Maybe the Brit doesn't fit. It's via the Dearne Valley line and Wakefield Kirkgate.

The letter also says return into Manchester Piccadilly to reverse which seems a bit odd or perhaps it's a typo.

Not many trips up Miles Platting, Chinley, Copy Pit, Sough these days so it will still be worth it--agree about the name though! More like the Coal in't Bath. Never mind, the sun will shine.

Picc-- yes I noticed that but why would they go there and where would they take the locos off? Longsight? The times they give say Vic, so I predict it's a typo. We shall see.

And even less steam hauled runs on the route between Wigan & Lostock Junction; last one was in April 2012 when 48151 ran from Southport-York.
I would guess it would be Vic where the locos come off so then 61994 can return to Bury (Assuming it is going back there) and 70013 can go to Crewe perhaps?

Unusual loco combination too. Maybe a first ever pairing of the types?
Presumably 45305 is either not fit or it's certification has not been renewed. Iirc it just worked the 11th August train mainline last year so it's had a quiet time of late rail tour wise.
