Over in the Steam section there is an interesting thread discussing what locos and events would form the ultimate gala. Do we have any similar wish lists for diesels?

I've always liked the idea of a large collection of members from an interesting class working together, so would love to see all four Class 24's (for example) working together at the NYMR one day.

Alternatively perhaps the CFPS could be persuaded to pick up a few more Class 40's during their "tour" next year (D200? D212?) for a mega 40 gala with as many working examples as possible!! :)

At least 1 of each class from 08 up to 56/58 or 60. DELTIC restored to working order, Lion, Falcon and Kestrel found and restored.

A late 1980's gala would be good... NSE liveried class 50's, Intercity Class 47's, Large logo blue.

    Also a "west midlands" theme gala with 20's 25's 37's, 45, 47 and 50's all in Blue.

There was a 24 weekend many years ago-three out at NYMR and 081 at GWR.

Ultimate is probably an departmental/RTC gala in the future-ELR got 8233,5705,20087,24054,832,7076,40135

Could add to that 24061,40012,46045,08600 and 9730x to keep the tractor veg happy.

    southern thumper gala
, where you run southern thumpers ie hastings dmu , 2h and 33 or EDL hauled trains of course you would have to hire in a tc if one still exsists and the preserved 4 vep and run in push pull mode if the 33 happens to be one of the 33/1 class AND WHERE, ? ONLY REALLY 2 LINES THAT COME TO MIND

Last summer's mixed traffic gala in June on the West Somerset Railway pretty well had it all - diesel hydraulic heaven with:
Class 42 Warship no D832 Onslaught
    · Class 42 Warship no D821 Greyhound
    · Class 52 Western no D1010 Western Campaigner
    · Class 52 Western no D1062 Western Courier
    · Class 35 Hymek no D7017
    · Class 14 no D9520
    · Class 14 no D9526
    and also some classic classes:
    · Class 47 no D1661 North Star
    · Class 25 no D7523
    · DMU
kettle fans not left out either:
    · BR(W) 2-6-2T no 4160
and throw in the Exmoor Gold beer in the buffet car, beautiful countryside and stations, with wall to wall sunshine! What more would you want - maybe a newly restored Metrovick CoBo as an exotic addition would really be the icing on the cake?

what would be nice if the blue/ grey 3 CIG unit at eastleigh could be "borrowed if she still is main line registered to run a shuttle Aldershot - Alton service during a MHR gala or also a Wareham to swanage shuttle with an 73 providing the power on the branch

i was under the impression she (the 3 cig) had been moved to eastleigh to have some repairs made, but its a pity that SWT couldnt have got some de regulation that would have enabled them to ran the two units as a heritage unit for situations such as what we have ben descussing here i can remember going on a train to Alton a few years back to go to a MHR event when to my surprise it was formed of the 2 bill and 4 sub units

The WR hydraulic galas at the WSR (09 &10) were as good as it gets for me too. Sadly, there aren't any living NBL cousins in the form of a D6300 or a D600 to complete the clan reunion. Am also looking forward to the day when someone stages an exclusively Hydraulic BR Blue gala.
