I understand that the inaugural "Waverley" York-Carlisle service tomorrow 25 July will be headed by 48151 as a late replacement for 46115 which is "unfit".

Thought I heard a steam train when I was in the Asda Car Park about an hour ago climbing to Cross Gates.

when 6233 was taking water at carnforth, 5690 was in light steam, was hooked up to 44932, and they were both shunted into the shed, leaving 48151 outside, it'll have to go to york pretty soon, wonder what's happening with 46115.

Might go out to Crossgates for a shot tomorrow night. *Note to self* Remember to charge camcorder batteries!! (after todays incident of running out whilst filming 55022!) I will have to see if it is on time or not,got +20 connection for train back into leeds,if it was running late i might just go back into Leeds anyway, get some unit bashing done nevertheless.....lol

Thanks for the advice Simon,i noticed on some of the more recent shots i have seen taken there that it was getting a bit out of hand.I will probably still go having said that,as its the only realistic option i have at the moment,if it is too bad from the up platform i will probably stay on the down, wish the train times were more favourable,i would of gone to Blea Moor.

    Cheers,
    Mark

Just got around to posting a couple of shots of 48151 approaching Hellifield and it putting on a good display at Helwith bridge.
Seemed to be quite alot of empty seats for the peasents in 2nd class as well.

Really belted through Cross Gates at 21:05,thankfully there was no bushes in the middle, looks like they must of been chopped back fairly recently. Could hear it well before it appeared.

Absoulte chaos with this music fest that has been going on near Leeds, there were loads of folk on Cross Gates station but it was at Leeds where it just started getting silly.

I was going to get the 21:40 to Wakey W but as Northern Rail were showing their brilliant planning skills by utilising one wonderful Class 144 (which ironically had a 158 uncoupled behind it!) which was packed before i got to it,as i got to the doors i looked behind me to find a sea of people running so i though "... this" and decided to get a taxi, more costly but it was better than the Indian Rly's impressions!!

    Hellfire vid to come....

    Cheers,
    Mark

Yes I asked someone at Manston Crossing about the bushes at Cross Gates Mark and they said they'd been cleared at last!

It was a fantastic Music concert today Mark! Bit of a rush back though to get out filming. Highlight was most certainly Jedward ;) Haha

What a noise form 48151 last night - saw her both sides of Appleby bang on time, going very well indeed; 13 behind the tender too.

48151 arrived back at carnforth this afternoon with burn scars on the firebox door, there are now three engines in light steam outside the shed.

Noticed the hot door as 48151 did a bat out of hell (Ok Keighley isnt quite that bad), nought to 50 odd in about 5 minutes and about a mile and a half, having been held up breifly at Steeton/Silsden (getting ahead of itself ?).

According to Mr Riley on the 'other side' next Sundays Waverley's cancelled due to lack of bookings. The week after will run with 45407.
