A £4,000 theft of Great Western Railway cast-iron bench ends from Cheltenham Racecourse station has left the platform bereft of period seating. The thieves are believed to have specifically targeted these castings, some of which are original and others replicas and are worth around £200 each. The thieves took care to dismantle the seats and unbolt the 25kg castings from the platform and the entirely volunteer-run railway is looking for help to find the thieves.
