THRELKELD STEAM CHARTER – FRIDAY 27th JULY 2012
The following locos have been agreed for this charter as of today and depends on the locos being available at the time of the charter.
This year I am taking four new locomotives to Threlkeld.
‘PADDY’ 0-4-0 vertical boiler loco built 2008
    ‘UTRILLAS’ O & K 0-4-0WT Built by Orenstein & Koppel in 1907 – works number 2378
‘BRONLLWYD’ 0-6-0WT Built by Hudswell Clarke in 1930 as works number 1643. This loco is currently running as Surrey County Council Highways department GP39.
No 2 ‘MINAS DE ALLER’ 0-6-0 built by L. Corpet, Paris in 1884, works number 439
Plus resident locomotive ‘SIR TOM’ – 0-4-0ST built by W G Bagnall in 1925 as works number 2135 and rebuilt in 2006

This year is the 150th anniversary of Threlkeld Quarry and I have arranged for the Steam Charter to take place on Friday 27th July 2012 with FIVE locos present - details as per the attached page.
I intend running from 08.30 until 17.30 using the various rakes of wagons which are on site with all the locos using the rakes on a continuous basis.
This year I am having to use two trailers to transport the locos to site but in spite of increases in diesel and other costs I have agreed to keep the price at the same level as in the past - £40.00 -but in order to cover costs I need a few extra people.
I have requested as many of the cranes and earth moving equipment as possible be working and have been assured that they will have as many volunteers as possible to give a good display.
If you are interested in joining this charter - or you have any associates who may wish to join - please advise as soon as possible and forward your cheque made payable to D B TILLOTSON dated 01st July 2012.
As usual we will have the canteen open from 08.00 serving bacon butties. At lunchtime they will be serving chip butties and in the afternoon cakes all at the usual reasonable prices. Tea and coffee will be available all day. All the money raised by the tea ladies will be donated to a charity. In the last two years the ladies have donated £500 each year to their chosen charity.

Some people may not know where Threlkeld is:
From the M6 junction 40, take the A66 towards Keswick and about 12 miles from the M6 and about 3 miles before Keswick, Threlkeld is signposted on the left.

Take a look at the Threlkeld web page for other information about the quarry.
