Hello, does ANYONE have or know someone that has any spare tickets for Oliver Cromwell on 11th March. I've tried booking online but it appears to be fully booked so I think this is my only hope. I have a 4yr old son who's life is totally trains (his take on life is...if it's not about trains then it's not worth knowing).
Anyway, if anyone can help I'll be ever so grateful.
    Regards, Julia Sheppard

Hi, its the Railway Touring Company that's running Oliver Cromwell on 11 March. I did ask by email about a reserve list but I've only been told it's fully booked. I'll ring them & ask, but I don't hold out much hope this way.
If you know of any other possible sources of tickets for this trip I'd be so grateful if you can let me know. Many thnx

I would have thought it would be very difficult to get tickets because it is the first train across the NNR crossing in 40 years. If your son wants to indulge his interest in steam you could come to the Spring gala at the NNR from the 12th-14th March. There should be up to 5 locos in steam and regular departures from both ends.

plus can you only travel one way on the Norwich - holt section , which i assume means a shortened set , buses transferring the other passengers

Thanks for getting back to me, especially with the info on the steam gala, that sounds great. Do you know what locos in steam will be there yet?
    Many thanks, Julia Sheppard

Should be a good day. The NNR will have the N2 and N7 out with the Quad-Set, shipping the VIPs around to/from the ceremony etc., so plenty of steam to see.

Its a shame that the route has been changed form Liverpool Street and via Great Eastern to Norwich.

Must admit I was looking forward to seeing Ollie going up Brentwood Bank.

    Julia,
What he probably ment to say was the Great Northern. The train was originally booked out of Liverpool Street (The London Terminus of the Great Eastern Railway)to Norwich via the Great Eastern line.It is now leaving from Kings Cross(The London terminus of the Great Northern Railway) to Cambridge and Thetford via the Great Northern line to Cambridge and then on a Great Eastern line. Both these railways eventually became part of the LNER.
I notice that your location is Ipswich and as the train has now been routed via Cambridge it will not be coming in your direction on the way to Sheringham. It is still booked to return through Ipswich and according to www.uksteam.info it is booked through at 20:15.Hope this is of help.

    Julia,
Suggest you give RYTC a ring if thats what you originally booked.Unfortunatly late changes do seem to be happening more and more recently. One of my pet hates at present, not getting what was originally advertised.

This train was never booked to pick up at Colchester. The only joining point was London Liverpool Street [now of course moved London Kings X]

    6:05 Special,
I just tried to see if they were taking bookings from Colchester on line and was suprised to find that even though it was showing as fully booked, when you tried to book on the train it was possible and believe it or not there was Colchester in the joining station section.Just an observation nothing more.

I booked this train several months ago via the RTC website and at that time London Liverpool Street was shown as the only joining point as one of my party was interested in getting on at Colchester and this wasn't possible. I have just had a further look and sure enough Colchester is now shown as a pick up station . I am at a loss as to why they are now advertising a pick up station firstly when the train is full and secondly when the train goes nowhere near the station advertised.

I meant to say the Great eastern mainline being that from Liverpool Street to Norwich as opposed to the Great Northern from Kings Cross.
