Tornado is not working to MOSI light engine - its working the Royal Train
    - where have you been hiding???

As for route info - you've got more chance of seeing 6233 in green!

Prince Charles has an event in London the day before, just wonder where he will embark the train, shud then be easy to work out a route to Manchester

Seems to be in the public domain that its steam Preston to Manchester, i think Neil meant does anyone know about the L/E movement to Preston from York. Doubt the move would be hidden underthe same level Royal protocol as the train its self ???

Given the timings I would presume an overnight stabling somewhere in Lancashire with the loco attached overnight to (1) keep the trainset together thus minimising security checks (2) provide steam heat as I presume the stock is still dual heat. If train is coming from Preston then I would expect choice of route between Preston - Chorley - Bolton or Preston - Wigan - Bolton thus passing Salford Cresent which offers the best view from the station overbridge.

Actually there are several stations from Bolton where the views are reasonable and past tours have usually been travelling at a good rate.
Looking at the schedule on this line starting in the hour there are services from Bolton at 03, 13, 25, 31, and 39 then the next is the 03, so that last gap would seem the most likely one for any other movement.

an early start off York doesnt seem unreasonable given the proposed time off Preston, I assume the ECS will be coming via settle and Carnforth to avoid having to turn in the Lostock Hall triangle

OK, I may be having another senior moment, but has someone posted a proposed time off Preston and if so, what is it? I would far rather get a glimpse of 60163 than go to the dentist on Thursday morning. Thanks in anticipation.

I'm not sure Nat Pres should be the first to publish the times, though they dont exactly appear to be a secret.

Charles is in London the day before, Burnley the day after and maybe close to a "Club" for one night.

I wouldnt go to Bolton, but then I live in London so what do I know sadly I wont be able to see it.

Strong suggestions that train leaves Preston around 09:00 then is routed WCML to Golbourne Junction thence to Eccles and direct entry to MOSI

We nipped out to Astley Crossing to see Tornado this morning, the weather was a little murky to say the least! I will have a look at the video later but meanwhile here is a couple from Jake who wagged school for a couple of hours to capture the occassion.

    Colour....

    A bit of manipulation...

Certainly worth him missing a couple of hours lessons in my opinion and thanks to his school for being understanding.

Well done to the A1 guys for turning this stunning loco out.

    Neil.
