Come on A1 Trust East Anglia is calling for you.

I would think the London to Norwich xmas cathedrals express would be a good candidate [-o<

Subject to the usual caveats and any further programme changes, Tornado should be moving to the West Somerset Railway sometime after the May 23rd run, and returning to London on Steam Dream's Minehead-Victoria on Thursday 18 June. It will be "mixing" it with the Diesel Hydraulics at the WSR Mixed Traffic Gala 12-14 June.

Just a thought, bearing in mind York is Tornado's base, would a series of runs on the Scarborough Spa Express be out of the question???

Big Green East Coast Pacific running to the coast which looks not unlike its disassembled sister locomotive currently under restoration.

Great earner, and allow joe public access to Tornado at realistic prices for a day trip to the coast.

Good idea in theory but remember West Coast operate the Scarboroughs and they don't operate Tornado as of yet. Perhaps it's just too green for him.

Although the Scarborough Flyer on a Friday last summer had EWS crews, so you never know.

Duno if she'd get through Ippy tunnel. I know there tend to be issues with anything bigger than a Brit or Light Bullied, but how Tornado compares to those, je ne sais pas!

You have a point. That's just something I'd been told...

Though it can't just be coincidence that every Class 8 trip to Norwich goes via Cambridge (A4's, Duchess etc), while anything smaller tends to go up the GEML?

Does beg the question how can you be out of gauge height wise when there is obviously enough room for the overheads ?.

If my memory is working I think Tornado was built to 13' 00", which should fit the OHC catanery loading gauge,6024 is 13' 01" and can work under the wires.

I think you will find that "Tornado" is wider over the cab than a Gresley Pacific or V2, also a little more overhanging the rigid wheelbase.

What is the mileage of the scarboughs?

At the minute she is limited on her mileage for one trip, that is one of the reasons most of her trips so far have been steam one way, oily box the other.

The Scarborough spas are about 200 mile round trips, as has already been said Smithy don;t want anything to do with the A1 so its not likely that it will be used

Where's has that been said exactly ?, just because 60163 isn't currently certified for use by WCRC doesn't mean that will stay the case.
