Just to update you on news of the cosmetic restoration of Fletcher Jennings 0-4-0T 'Townsend Hook' (wn 172L of 1880) at Amberley Museum.

The loco has now been totally stripped down and work is progressing on the frames, mainly repainting them a rather nice shade of postbox red. The wheels (the tyres on TH's originals were life expired, but luckily Betchworth Quarry ordered a spare pair of wheelsets with TH, so these are being used) are being repainted and work is progressing on the axleboxes. The frames will be rewheeled hopefully some time in June and then the brakes and motion will be overhauled and refitted.

Townsend Hook will be on display on our Industrial Trains Day on Sunday 17th April if you want to have a look. I would have pictures with this but my hard drive died the other day and I lost a lot of my pictures (and I can't just get them off fotopic now :S). If you are on Facebook you can see some pictures on our page at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Townsend-Hook-Project/108805809191969 .
