Trafikverket has given Strukton the responsibility of maintaining two major rail routes in the south of Stockholm.

The five-year contract covers the Nynäs Line and the Western Main Line between Älvsjö and Gnesta – a distance of 310 kilometres.

The Western Main Line is the main railway line between Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Strukton will carry out repairs and maintenance to electrification and signalling systems as well as the track.

Strukton Rail’s regional director, Ann-Sofie Lindström, said: “We have been looking forward to assuming responsibility for these track sections. They will become a natural geographical continuation of the railway maintenance we are doing in central Stockholm, where we already have an established and effective group of technicians who know both the area and track system very well.

“The preparation of the contract start is in full swing.”
