(head)Trains Running at Oswestry this Weekend

Trains will be running at Oswestry this weekend as part of the Cambrian Heritage Railways Project.

For the princely sum of £1, visitors will be able to enjoy a ride from the Cambrian Railways Museum platform on Oswald Road, across the Coney Green and on to Middleton Road Bridge.

Trains will be worked by diesel locomotive ‘Telemon’, while passengers will be carried in a restored 1948-built guards’ van, complete with its end verandas, which will provide the opportunity to be up close to the action.

Trains will run on Sunday and Monday from 11 – 1600hrs. Fares will be £1 for adults and 50p for children.

The adjacent free-to-enter Cambrian Railways Museum will also be open.

Meanwhile, visitors will be welcome at the Cambrian Heritage Railways’ Llynclys site on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Tea, cake, sandwiches and ice cream will be on offer in the popular restored 1950s buffet coach.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a train ride in a 1950s diesel railcar from Llynclys to Pant. Trains will run from 11 – 1600hrs.

Llynclys station can be found three miles south of Oswestry, signposted off both the A483 and B4393 Knocking roads.
