If you like to support a good cause whilst cranking then the Middleton Railway has just the event for you this Sunday (20th May)…

We will be operating our usual 40 minute service from Moor Road to Middleton Park from 11:00 to 16:20 with either ‘Matthew Murray’ (MW1601/1903) OR recently arrived ‘Slough Estates No.3’ (HC1544/1924). ‘Mary’ (HCD577/1932) will also feature on some trips. For this service a normal Middleton Railway fare is payable.

In addition to this service we will also be operating ex BR RTC Drewry Car RDB998901 (DCC2268/1950) on the Balm Road (Network Rail connection) branch. This is the Drewry Car’s first public outing for a couple of years and offers a rare chance to do some rare track. This service will be free but as this is part of the ‘Day for Kay’ in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support we would ask you to drop something in the buckets provided – all proceeds from this service will go direct to Macmillan. If rare track is your thing and you want to do both sides of the Balm Road bottom loop then have a word with the driver and we’ll see what we can do – probably on the last trip…

If cab rides count in your book then you will also get the chance to get your hands on the controls of 138C (TH138C/1965) on ‘Driver for a Fiver’. Again all your five quid will go to Macmillan.

There will be other attractions on the day in aid of Macmillan and the Middleton Railway (and Macmillan Cancer Support) would appreciate your support for this special event.

Full details can be found at A day for Kay - Sunday 20th May 2012

Obviously all the above is subject to the usual caveats regarding failures etc – as of today everything shown above is ok.
