A mother goose who held up trains when she got onto a railway line in Essex has been returned to her brood

Gertie was scared off her nest by a fox in the wildlife park at Mountfitchet Castle, Stansted.

She flew out of the grounds and landed on the main line between Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport on Monday.

Trains were disrupted while railway line workmen caught her and returned her to the castle where she was reunited with her clutch of eggs.

Gertie is now back in her nesting place underneath the dovecote at the castle.
