I'm on it too. Fair chance it's Ray I would think.

The classic over the viaduct at Frampton Mansell shot has been gone for many years. I don't know the lower part very well, but higher up, Sapperton unfortunately is getting VERY overgrown again after clearance work near the summit about 5 years ago. Went there in June for 345 and tried for the foot crossing near the tunnel. The best view from the south side from the top of the cutting is now gone. You can walk about 100 yards through the woods and get a good view across the scrubby field, but beware - the landowner is extremely anti and turfed everyone out when I went there for Braunton in May. You can still get a shot from the treeline on the other side of his fence though. For video, the shot from the top of the tunnel is popular, but I haven't been up there for a long time so can't comment on the state of the vegetation.

If anyone is looking for their tickets on this one, we are awaiting a final confirmation from NetRail before we can send them out....they will go out via 1st Class post as soon as we get the nod.

    Regards, Ben VT

The growth above the tunnel, is getting out of hand. Though, Winter months, is the best time to go above the tunnel. Clearest shot's to be had, are from the three crossings. Some recent videos below, to give you a idea.

Yes, no waiting around at Kemble for the single line anymore, so chasing from Sapperton to the GWML east of Swindon will no longer be possible

If you haven't got seats on this trip, but want some, give VT a ring. I received an e-mail from them this afternoon:

"Due to a last minute cancellation, we now have some last-minute seats available in Premier Dining and Standard Class on the Cotswold Explorer this weekend. Please telephone the Vintage Trains Booking Office on 0121-708-4960."

Looks a bit wet and miserable for the climb up to Sapperton but no doubt 5043 will be as sure-footed as usual, leaves on track, dampness etc notwithstanding. A better afternoon weather-wise seems to be on the cards.

Typical, isn't it after weeks of generally dry weather!

Yes, tell me about it, I tried to beat it between Sapperton and Radlet last time out and failed by about 10 minutes.

Nice work Eggbert. Here's mine from a little lower down by the foot crossing. Apologies for less than perfect footage and poor sound quality due to the conditions. Another master class from The Earl and Ray - thanks to all involved.
