With work likely to start on the varsity line at some point, I thought I'd have a last wander down a bit of the line in its current disused state. I chose a short section around Verney Junction station, former terminus of the Metropolitan Railway, as it has a pair of junctions as well as the platforms which are in situ.

I've compiled a folder on Flickr with the pics and a bit of commentary, at :

Hi and welcome to the forum. Some interesting photos for me personally on there, we used to usually take a break on the platforms when walking the line from Bletchley flyover towards Bicester when I was a trackman based at Bicester in the mid-late '80s. Knocked a few keys in and tightened some fishplates along that section! There was talk then of opening it up to passenger use again as when I left they were upgrading the Oxford-Bicester section. Good to hear that if all goes to plan it will reopen in 2017.
