It has taken us a while to put this one together, but it should be fun.

It is announced in Steam Railway Mag this month that is just starting to hit the streets.

    Hope you can join us!

For those of you without access to SR, it is listed as follows:
Tyesley-Coleshill Parkway-Nuneaton-Mantle lane sidings (water)-Burton-Stenson jnc (water)-Castle Donnington-Sheet stores jnc-Trent jnc-Loughborough-Leicester (break & water). Return to Tyesely via Nuneaton & Coleshill Parkway. Apparently Network rail has co-operated greatly to allow access to lines normally closed on a Saturday.

Bugger! Can't really justify £120 to the wife just to visit Leicester (12 miles away!)

Any idea of departure times in the morning and return times in the evening?

Tell her its not about the destination - it's about the journey!

That never worked for me either, but maybe you could sell it better than I!

We have REQUESTED 9am from Tyseley Warwick Road, but I can only imagine the job the planners at WCR/NR are going to have trying to squeeze us in at 45mph!

    Thanks to then in advance!

Just looking at the times for this, GCR is having a 3 in steam day... Unfortunately the Panniers pass Loughborough without stopping, 1527, just 15 minutes before the last GCR departure.. 1545pm.

Pity, a short stop and a few minutes, we could have detained, took a trip to Leicester, or a whole of line return from Leicester North on the GCR and then rejoined the panniers after its 2.5 hour layover, the GCR final train and pannier times are off by minutes at both Loughborough and Leicester North.

Interestingly it takes 30 mins on the GCR to Leicester north.. It takes 30 minutes for the panniers on the mainline between Loughborough and Leicester !

    Re: Double-Headed Panniers - 19th November 2011

Excellent news. As one of some, I expect, who did not make this trip, can I suggest that it might merit a repeat given the unusual motive power and also the route?
