Timetable and roster is in the final stages of sanity checking and should be available later this week. We are slightly restricted by a lack of crews but we intend to run everything at least once over the weekend if humanly possible. The 05 will certainly run as advertised above - still spaces on the charter!

Not so much as an error but just missed it while copying from my hand written copy to the computer version.

Once it is checked I will release details here.

Timetable really quite close to publication now - eh Andy? We intend to publish the roster freely too - but an optional donation when you visit would be appreciated...

There are still a few places remaining on the Thursday afternoon charter. We need to recoup the transport costs if we are to entertain the idea of visiting engines in future - please?

Following a query this afternoon I will clarify the identities of the locos shown in the roster above:
    D2578 – ex-BR class 05. See http://www.beerandrail.com/d2578lg_05.htm

Olive – ex-BR overhead line inspection vehicle RDB998901 (Drewry Car Company 2268 of 1950) currently in Railway Technical Centre red/blue livery
    See http://www.middletonrailway.org.uk/roll ... k/oliv.htm

    ‘John Alcock’ – ex-LMS 7051, Hunslet Engine Co 1697 of 1932. See http://www.middletonrailway.org.uk/roll ... k/1697.htm

‘Mary’ – Industrial diesel, Hudswell Clarke 577 of 1932, maroon livery.
    See http://www.middletonrailway.org.uk/rollingstock/577.htm

‘Carroll’ – Industrial diesel, Hudswell Clarke 631 of 1946, green livery. See http://www.middletonrailway.org.uk/rollingstock/631.htm

‘Austins No.1’ – Industrial diesel, Peckett 5003 of 1958, red livery. Not usually used on passenger trains pending a repaint. See http://www.middletonrailway.org.uk/roll ... k/5003.htm

‘Courage’ – Industrial diesel, Hunslet 1786 of 1935, maroon livery, probably the rarest loco for passenger haulage owing to size alone! See http://www.middletonrailway.org.uk/roll ... k/1786.htm

‘D2999’ – Industrial diesel, not ex-BR despite the number and livery, almost identical to the BR loco of that number though. Brush/Beyer Peacock 91 of 1958. See http://www.middletonrailway.org.uk/rollingstock/91.htm

    ‘138C’ – Industrial diesel, Sentinel/Thomas Hill 138C of 1965, blue livery. See http://www.middletonrailway.org.uk/roll ... k/138c.htm

Any more questions? The rarely used Balm Road branch was attacked by a gang of tree loppers and strimmers yesterday and is now fit for traffic.
This is a big event for the Middleton Railway and we hope to see as many visitors as possible, as we have a transport bill for the 05 to cover. We hope to see you there? Thanks in anticipation.

PS: Still spaces on the Thursday charter by the way!

    Hello all.

Just got back from a very sucessful first afternoon and evening. Hopefully some photos will be posted shortly. Everyone enjoyed themselves and feedback was very positive.

Only three more days to get to ride bhind this loco.

Trains run tomorrow evening at 18.00 18.40 19.20 and 20.00

The 18.40 departure may be in top and tail mode with "Courage" depending on a few minor issues that I am doing my best to resolve.

Following on from yesterday's success with the 05 we will be operating the 05 at 1800, 1840, 1920 & 2000 from Moor Road tonight - Friday 5/6/09. The 1840 departure should be top and tail with HE1786 (aka sweet pea/courage). Expect an on train collection for this added bonus though ;-)

I must say I have had a fantastic weekend and am sad to see it go after so much work from all our guys. We had a good turn out and I am a very very happy man.

    Thanks to everyone involved.

It was an excellent gala. It's amazing how much variety was on offer for a small location. I spent all of Saturday here, and would happily have spent Sunday as well, but for Keighley and Worth Valley gala with visiting Deltic etc requiring some attention. I hope that a similar event is held soon at Middleton.

Apart from the visitor, the resident locos were fascinating - particularly Carroll and Mary.

Well worth the cdrive from Cornwall - I was surprised when local enthusiasts I chatted to on K&WVR hadn't been to Middleton for many years - I told them what they'd been missing!

Thanks for the kind words. You should have come and introducded yourself to Andy, Ian or me! I was 'crunching the gears' on Carroll on the Saturday. Anyone who has tried changing gear on these first generation Hudswell diesels will know what I mean!
