A couple of questions, if I may:

    (a) How many coaches are planned for Sunday? I'm in J, so I'm assuming I'll be in the last coach/first one after the support coach.
    (b) Will we need to pay to get into the celebrations on Sunday? The info sheet that came with the ticket didn't mention anything about it, but looking on the YRC webite, they're charging people £8, but it doesn't mention anywhere about whether or not passengers will need to pay that.

I'd had thought since you're on the visiting railtour it'd be free. Think the £8 is for the general public

Yes, would have assumed so, but a little surprising nothing has been said either way.

Four more for Sherborne, and possibly a small real ale if you insist - though we will have to balance the intake of fine wines there and back - it's a tough old life. I for one would not be entirely disappointed if a couple of the promised thunderstorms managed to dump their contents all over the New Forest between now and Sunday......

    Looking forward to it immensely

I think it's going to be 12 plus support coach

Going to get cooler with maybe some rain on Saturday. We have missed the storms in Hants today

Thoroughly looking forward to this run on Sunday, especially after reading the comments regarding the successful 'Bournemouth Belle'. Rather oddly, when I mentioned this particular anniversary, my partner decided to join me on this one, (unheard of), so we will be also seeking out the delights of Sherborne on a Sunday afternoon.
It' will be especially memorable for me as I was, by a series of coincidences on the last train (from Southampton) 50 years ago. Then I was 12 years old and with my father. I have many memories of that day...if anyone else on Sunday's train travelled behind 35030 on 09/07/67, well, it would be good to share a few!
One particular memory, when we walked along the platform at Waterloo after arrival, there was obviously a crowd around 35030, Dad started a conversation with the driver and he very kindly signed Dad's notebook. It was only comparatively recently when I read John Bird's book that I realised that the signature - J Evans - was not that of the driver we'd had from from Southampton...he never let on! (and why would he?). I certainly didn't realise at the time - and Dad didn't either -how quickly the crew changed over!

    Thanks.

Really looking forward to this tour. Ummed and ahhed about it for a few months, as I'm booked onto the ACE in September, which is obviously a longer day, but the sensible start and end times swung it for me in the end. Should be a grand day out.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the tour tomorrow. It's hard to believe that it's half a century since the final day of steam on the Southern.

Hopefully the following link may be of interest. <BJ>

Thanks for the link of Nine Elms on the last day. I was only 19 and had more or less loss interest in "spotting" but just wish I had taken the time to witness those last couple of weeks before it all ended. That said, had I been at Waterloo on that last Sunday evening, I would have found it very hard to keep my emotions in check in the knowledge that 35030's arrival with the last up train, was just that. the last one. There would be no more. Little did we realise however, that 50 years later, we will witness Clan Line on 9/7/17 heading out of Waterloo for the South just as it used to be. I can bet a lot of dollars that there will be a few tears tomorrow from those who were there 50 years ago.

Thanks for the link. I wonder what had been cut up in front of 34018 in the first photo?

Let's hope yesterday's blunder with the lack of water at Salisbury
    is not repeated today.

Try the Digby Tap Cooks Lane.. Fine selection of Real Ales .. Only a small pub but very good.. I live about 200 yards from it so I can recommend it.
Turn left outside the station and follow the road round. Cooks Lane is on the left about 200 yards from station.

RTT seems to have nothing showing for this train! I've looked at Waterloo, Wimbledon and Raynes Park - any thoughts? The links from the UKS page to the RTT times also don't work.

I can't get anything on RTT either. Can someone post a link to Open Train Times?

RTT has a fault that is currently being rectified according to their Twitter. OTT is, as mentioned above, working normally.
