Don't know about the SVR but nothing untoward on the NYMR. One very heavy shower about lunch time and that was it.

The downpour didn't strike the Vale of York until later on - around 6pm or just before, and was unpleasant but short lived here in Northallerton. Soon drained away and a lovely sunset now! Further north and west got it much worse.

I was signalling on the SVR today. It was an epic journey in my valiant little Mini to get there, through some pretty serious flash flooding including 8" (personal estimate) puddles and rain that probably tipped over the scale into 'biblical'!

We were somewhat delayed in starting because the Guard of the first train off Bridgnorth and the Highley Signalman were unable to get in, but a bit of swapping around and we were away. Apart from one tree across the line moved by the crew, and some sand and muck in the ballast at one point where it had runoff a field, we were unscathed and fully operational.

Both WCML and ECML closed this evening. Landslide at Oxenholme on West. Dunno about East.

ECML has a landslip in the Berwick area, I hear. No trains between Newcastle & Edinburgh until at least Saturday, according to news elsewhere. Not good :(
