6233 looked fine at CHC this afternoon, I'll be out with camera somewhere near Beeston for both ways.

Planning to go to Conwy and then Valley for a change - but my plans often go awry.

Caught the outward at Waverton - pretty ordinary/average shot!

Looked good at Beeston, will be out there soon for the return then put the two shots together.
Left Holyhead on time on the way back.

Also on time into Llandudno Junc.

The Lady in Black at Crewe 24 April 2010
The magnificent Stanier Pacific No 6223 Duchess of Sutherland made its first public appearance this year on the western side of Britain, in her new livery of post-war Ivatt LMS black. Whilst many would have loved to see her in BR green for the final year of this ticket, this shiny polished black finish looked wonderful in the sunshine as she left at the head of an excursion to Holyhead.

Set off early to see 6233 at Abergele & Pensarn this morning. Sounded great hearing her approach from the distance and looked fantastic in the full sun to show off her black livery and 'Welsh Dragon' headboard. Unfortunately not a wisp of smoke from the chimney for a photographers point of view as i think its downhill or at least level, but looked super nontheless against the signal box. Shots to be posted shortly.

Running early on the return so got slowed by service train approaching Beeston, then once out of sight opened up and could be heard for a long time going away.

    Hmmm

Gray and hazyat Llanfairfechan - loco looking a little used already - and nothing wrong with that - but the combined effect to me was that it doesn't show this livery up at all well.

    Now green .......................

That is a smashing clip well done both, managing to keep alonside for that distance on what is normall quite a busy road is no mean feat and keeping such a steady shot as well, not forgetting excellent sound as well. I'll bet the guys at PMR would love a copy of that on DVD, or even to be allowed to link the clip from their web site.

After that clip mine seems a bit tame, and I have just seen that on mine, none of the three option stills show 6233. :mmph:

    Top vids/pics all.

Had a brilliant day yesterday,6233 performed brilliantly as always. Bill put in a fine performance on the regulator, especially on the return after Rhyl, the noise was phenomanal!

My pics from the day are now up at:

    http://mark-walker.fotopic.net/c1841320.html

Vids to come at some point (huge backlog!!).

    Cheers,
    Mark

Couldn't get any closer than the Cl 47 thanks to white van men, and the Brunstrom blockage at Colwyn Bay put paid to Llandulas.

We were ahead on the A55 at Flint, so dropped down to the Rockcliffe crossing only to be held up in the Flint one way system as the Duchess flashed past in the distance. Its twenty years since we tried the coast - think it might be another twenty after that experience!

Super work Chris. Love the 'establishing shot' at Conway - works well with everything else :)

Many thanks guys for all your kind comments, re 'The Black Bomber' glad you enjoyed it. If any of the guys at PMRT want it, they can have it no probs. - Amy is very embarrassed. ;-)
