** RUSSELL AUCTION MANIA - a number of rare and unusual items of railwayana are going on sale on the auction site eBay. These include three British Railways era enamel signs in very good condition: two Southern Region (green background) signs saying "Station Master" and "Please Show Tickets", and a Midland Region (maroon background) sign saying "British Railways". An extremely rare blue enamel sign from the Dinorwic Quarry Railways is also due to go on sale shortly.

Live auction is currently the Southern Region “Station Master” sign. To visit the auction site and bid, click here:

These items are being sold to raise money to restore the only surviving Welsh Highland steam locomotive, Hunslet 2-6-2T Russell (901 of 1906). Russell is due to return to service in 2009, in time for the completion of the Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog to Caernarfon.

Tyres for Russell’s pony trucks are now on their way…… from South Africa, and apparently are on a boat at this very moment, due to arrive in the next 16 days.

** WHR TV GOES LIVE - video clips of the Welsh Highland Railway (Porthmadog), and an enhanced gallery page are now available on the WHR(P) website. The gallery includes a short film from the recent Hunslet: Generations gala weekend, featuring three visiting Quarry Hunslet locomotives in action on the WHR(P). There's also a series of links to other photographers' collections of WHR pictures (let us know if you'd like us to link to yours!
