WEST LANCS RAILWAY SUMMER GALA

    A Record Breaking Event
    The West Lancashire Light Railway anticipate that their forthcoming Summer gala
    on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th August 2012 will be a record breaking event. It
    will be the first time that the railway has managed to have SIX steam
    locomotives in operation on the same day.
    The line up includes newly restored Avonside 0-4-0T 2067/1933 "Marchlyn" in
    its second ever public appearance, Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 WT No. 1643 of 1930,
    GP39 ( formerly Bronllwydd ) both visiting from Statfold Barn, along with the
    West Lancashire's Resident loco fleet, Kerr Stuart 2405 of 1915 0-6-0T+WT
    "Joffre" which will also feature in its second public appearance since
    restoration, Hunslet 823 of 1903 0-4-0ST "Irish Mail", and Oreinstein & Koppel
    0-4-0 Locos 2378 of 1908 "Utrillas" and 6641 of 1913 "Montalban".
    Trains will commence operation by 11.30 on both days and will run until 17.00
    and feature a intensive passenger train service and freight trains utilising a
    varied combination of all six locomotives.
    Lineside photographic passes will be available, all photographers will be
    required to have a hi-vis jacket.
    Please come and help us to make this event a successful day, and support one of
    the UK's smallest lines.

    Any news on fares? Are all 6 going to pull passenger trains? Seriously tempted to call in on the way back from the Lakes to South Wales on the 11th...

    special fares apply is what it says on the website for galas.
    but it will be good do, every gala is!
    my camera is ready, batteries to charge later.

    I've just got back from Hecky Bank, a super line up - the two visitors from Statfold are both a credit to the restorers. As an owd b*gger it cost me no more than £5.50 including the lineside pass. Well worth a visit

    We did call in on the way back from the Lakes. What a lovely afternoon, and very good value including the shop! Thanks to all concerned. Six locos in a virtually continuous service of passenger and demonstration goods trains.
    Oh, and I won a water pistol on the fairground biff-a-thing-with-a-mallet-to-ring-a-bell device :)

    There'll be plenty in my You Tube film, which is next in line to be made now after 3x Lakeside and Haverthwaite (3 different locos!) and a looong Ratty 2 parter are up. I'll post the link on here when it's finished :)
