Went across to BL this morning to try and buy programme, 90 minute round trip for nothing. :(
Well, not entirely for nothing, I did learn about the roadworks on the M5 & Toneway.

Hi, anybody who is coming down the M5 for the Gala, would be advised to come off at Jcn 24 & take the A38 to Monkton Heathfield ...fork right on the dual carriageway & follow brown signs to WSR......could save you a lot of time & hassles at Jcn 25 !!

I have messaged the owner to ask whether he intends to bring it to the Railway on other days during the Gala.

One doesn't often see that sort of Scammell these days. I was recently in the Watford museum and diappointed that they had pictures of a few Scammell vehicles but none of that sort.

Michael, Thanks for this. I suspect that not many 57xx logs were ever made, so these are quite interesting. The Newport - Cardiff looks to be quite an epic, and given knowledge of the Worcester to Kidder road, which we have run with panniers, I would not doubt the numbers for that. It would be interesting to hear if the RPS data has anything on the 2251 0-6-0's which are basically a pannier with slightly bigger wheels?
    Best Regards
    Bob

  20. Back in '76 6412's delivery run from Totnes to the WSR was up the main line under it's own steam, hauling an autocoach and a brake van. The driver that evening assures me that sustained 60mph running was achieved.
