For anyone travelling on the WSR this week, be prepared for some delays at Williton. Lack of time has meant that all of the signals and most of the points have not been reconnected, which means that the points are going to have to be manually operated and clipped/padlocked, and signalling will be by handsignalmen at both ends of the station under the direction of the main signalman in the 'box.

Seems like those planning the relay were unduly optimistic in the timescale? Or am I being a bit unfair?

I think you are.;) We don't know what the plans were and, what unexpected problems were encountered. Give them the benefit of the doubt.

Remember they have only just over 6 weeks to extend the loop line when the railway was closed. So the timing was going to be tight.

Well I'll be in no hurry. Is the work expected to be completed in time for the gala?

Proper frosty here in Stogumber this morning - minus 4 at the moment. But steam heat to the rescue!

Good to know that the railway will still be going in 900 years time!

Robin have you been on the cider again, as the year is 2016 and not 2916, and the flowers are snowdrops and not bluebells.:D

As any fule kno, bluebells is blue and don't appear until April / May - at least not in our neck of the woods, and I think we have a certain claim to expertise!

I had an excellent afternoon out on the Wizzer today. Brilliant sunshine and the newly painted coaches resplendent in Blood and Custard. It was good to see the new bridge at Williton almost complete with hand rail and grids. I saw Robin hard at work hand signalling and it was good to meet Aldfort and Ex QB Steward in person. I was brought down to Earth when I heard the news that Ian Aldridge had been "elected" as Chairman. Also I heard a rumour that Ms Green had been "suspended". The whole saga of the WSRA over the last three years has taught me that almost anything can, and indeed does happen. The EGM is going to be very interesting.

I was at Bishops Lydeard just before 4 o'clock this afternoon when the WSR's latest acquisition arrived in the form of 4F no.44422. Within 30 mins it had been unloaded in the yard. It appears in 'as withdrawn' condition ......just as I remember them. :) <BJ>
