There are no loco's left at Barry yard, in fact if memory serves there is no yard any more! There are 10 locos around and about, some being used for new builds or recreating lost classes and a couple to be restored in their own right and one left in Barry condition for educational purposes.

I believe that 43924 left before some of the last locos actually arrived!! :) There were also a few dozen more locos that left in 16T mineral wagons.

Indeed, according to that excellent reference, "The Barry Album" by author and railway expert Peter Nicholson, the maximum quantity of steam locomotives gathered at the Woodham's Bros Barry site was 222 in mid 1968.
I guess I have been really privileged in that I visited Barry yard in the early 80s when many had already been saved, also that I was able to assist in the saving and extraction of one of the locos (4277) after moving Braunton out of the way and also privileged to witness most of the "hopeless cases" returned to steam. Finally, I've been lucky to have received a reasonable bonus from the City to buy most of them myself. Well, I daydreamed about the last point - but some people have used their rewards wisely by buying ex-Barry locos and all credit to them!

Of all the remaing locomotives at Barry It would be nice to see 92245 moved to Midsomner Norton as an exhibit as it look like she is the only one without much of a plan for her - 80150 swapped, all the GW machines in some state of transfomation, 48518 broken up for spares and 44901 reported to have new owner soon -

Maybe someone would like to 'transform' the remains into a Crosti... or the proposed standard 2-8-2 or as a friend of mine suggested a Capprotti 9 - He's always bee a little odd - I would just like to see her with a coat of paint (any colour) and somewhere that would pay some attention to the old girl.
