A chance for a quick roll-call around all restoration projects to see which engines will steam for the first time in preservation in 2014. We should rule out engines that have steamed and then been laid up when their tickets expired, so this should only include engines that may not have steamed since the 1960s.
My local railway (The Mid Hants can "only" boast 75079 though even this will be lucky if it makes 2014.
I hope someone can beat this and give us all a reason to celebrate!

If 41298 has steamed, then 35006 or 4270 might win by default, as I can't think of any other first-time steamings likely in 2014. I'd love to see 75079 in steam, but I did't think she was likely to be ready much before 2017.

I can assure you that you are mistaken! 41298 has never been steamed since it was in BR service.

Yes. I thought 41298 had been steamed at Longmoor (as everything else was.....34023, 35028, 75029, 92203 plus Lord Fisher) but the owners will know.

Edit - Just spotted #6 and photos of Longmoor Open Days suggests it was not in steam. So this may be a contender for 2014 and, thinking about it, probably one of the longest gestation periods ever given that it never went to Barry, was in working order when it was withdrawn and has been effectively in store since.

    You are mistaken, it didn't.
46447 may be a contender, as may 35006.

I can state categorically that 41298 has never steamed since it was in BR service. The Ivatt trust commenced a very through overhaul, so really has been under overhaul ever since.

PS I still cannot reply with a direct quote

Both 35006 and 4270 are almost certain steamers for this year, the latter first probably, and both on the gwsr!

Good news FS - looks like we'll all be coming up to Broadway to see them! (Can we take this as a cast iron commitment?) :)

I'd say it was almost certain that both of these locos will see Broadway within their current ticket, if they are still with us in what will probably end up being 2018 I suspect.
