Leaving aside Woodhams Barry, who preferred to sell on, rather than cut up the engines it purchased from BR, what mainstream Breakers yard cut up the very last ex BR steam loco in their yard and what engine languished the longest in any of the yards before finally being cut up ?
With the exception of Woodhams, most yards did not tend to have engines laying about long, often the arrival date, and cutting up date was a matter of months, in this case, Woodhams was the exception, that's why I have said, leaving Woodhams aside for now, I do not mean engines purchased for preservation, or spares , then resold for scrap, it has to be engines sold by BR to a dismantler for scrap .

73069 at Cashmores Newport was cut in March 1969.
9792 also Cashmores in 1975, but it came via NCB Service.

Including Barry, 4156 and 92085 were scrapped in 1980, the former having been there 15 years. (I know you're looking for non-Barry)

Some of the last Black Fives including 45269 and 45318 were sent to Drapers of Hull in March '69.

44816 was still intact at Cohen's, Kettering yard in April 1969.

    July 1968 I believe.
It was stored at Shrewsbury Coton Hill yard for quite a while, along with other locos heading for South Wales, it was the last to leave.

What was the engine used in a film?
Set in the "Jungle" somewhere in east Anglia I think on a recently disused branch.
Derailed as part of the film then cut up on site.
I seem to recall it had been earmarked for preservation but failed.

44781, one of the locos on the 15 guinea special. Cut up at Kings of Norwich (?Dec 68). I was looking at that one as a possible.

It was cut by Kings but not at their yard, rather, at the film location.

I can remember a story from the early 70s' that an 8F was seen being towed away from the Liverpool area either late 1969 or early 1970. Has anybody else heard this.

The film was 'The Virgin Soldiers' and the location of the derailment was at Bartlow near Cambridge.

I've heard the tale, but earlier than that: October 1968? It was discovered when the shed it had been pushed into was opened up for demolition. Apart from hearsay, I've never found any evidence in support, although I'll admit to not making a thorough search.

It was Eugene's brother who supposedly saw it going through Roby. It must've been after December '68 as I didn't know Euge before then .... but I did 'take it with a pinch of salt'.
FWIW there were 20 locos at Lostock Hall awaiting disposal on 5/1/69. On 12/4/69 45017, 45388 & 44894 still remained but left soon afterwards. I reckon these were the last to be despatched to the scrapyards.
    Cheers,
    Ray.

So the answer looks as if it may be Drapers of Hull where all those three went,

Just to blur the issue :) Large chunks of part-cut locos supposedly survived in Maden and McKees Scrapyard in Stanley, Liverpool, well into the 1970s.

According to Rail UK (Usual caveats apply), 45388 and 44894 were cut by 31st May 1969.
