Just heard, what sounded like a steam train whistle in Preston. Unable to see the West Coast Main Line from where I am but anybody have any ideas? Sounded like a whistle belonging to a BR Standard.

Steam lorry, traction engine or roller? Used to hear Fred Dibnah out on an evening with his Aveling from where we lived at Bromley Cross.

How about from your local steam railway, in the docks?

I'm not I'm afraid Frank, but we lived there for a couple of years when I worked at MSIM that was.
