Do you reckon they'll drop the diesel off at Hellifield ?

I would think it's likely that the diesel will remain on if only to provide decent heating for the train.

The old WCME's with the Black Fives never needed one and a few of those trips were run in very harsh conditions.

I remember going to see 45407 and 44871 at Shap in the middle of a snow storm, what a sight that was.

5 out of the 8 WCME's starting from Manchester over the S&C have had a diesel on the back.

Last years with Galatea was diesel free, so I guess we'll see what the decision is tomorrow.

    Still no times on RTT!

Is it confirmed as Leander for this then as I would’ve thought Mayflower would’ve been a good contender seeing as she was in steam yesterday

Is it just a water stop then at Carnforth on the return. And a very long wait at Appleby. Is that something to do with pathing to the West Coast main at Durran Hill? Cos Northen are on strike today as usual.

Can’t see any paths to drop the diesel at any point, looks like it’s with us all day.

I wouldn't have thought it be Mayflower anyhow because Steam Dreams are the booking agents who run her, unless West Coast and Railway Touring Company are allowed to hire it but I'm not sure about that.

If you look at the timings from Carnforth you can see that the Man Vic stop was an 'in-out'. My guess is that they have taken water at Bolton. There seems to be plenty of slack in the timings.

No, not that a T.P.W.S. issue. Flat battery on it cos I was on as far as Bolton and the support crew put the C.47 at the front of Leander so I bailed at Bolton because I knew the day was going to be a washout. They promised steam might take the reins again at Hellifield but a T.P.W.S. with flat battery needs to be charged up at 10A, if it was that. Or maybe faulty contacts.
