Apologies if there is already a thread for this series of tours over the S&C, I thought there was one but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Please PM me if there is one and I will merge the two.

Anyway, as I did very little photography last year due to work and family commitments I am looking forward to seeing some of these tours. Would anyone have any info on what may be running which day?

    Thanks, Neil.

According to sources the train on all 4 Saturdays is booked 45305 + 70013; locos run le from Carnforth to Preston. Currently available times suggest 11:00 from Preston to Hellifield [Water stop] then to Carlisle arrive 14:50. Departs Carlisle 16:50 for water stop at Carnforth [possible loco change ?] and arrival at Preston around 18:30. Presumably Uksteam .info will have fuller times nearer the day but hope this gives a guide to possible locations.

Belle1 Thanks for starting this thread. Who would have thought that 7 steam tours would be running over Shap and Settle & Carlisle line during the first quarter of the year? It shall be great if the tours with 5305 and 70013 are a success. RTC would like to make this a yearly happening.

It shall also be great 5407 and 4871 on the 28th, 70000 on March 3rd and the VT tour with 5043 and 6201 serving as the finale.

I will be on the one on the 25th and will send texts to Railtours live.

As it is suggested that that 5305 and 70013 are going to do alternate weeks, I'm thinking of doing one run behind each, and maybe the double header from Manchester as well. Start the season as you mean to go on is my motto this year.

Shall be in Yorkshire weekend of 10-12 February. Torn between spending all the time on excellent Worth Valley gala, or just doing Friday and Sunday morning on K&WVR but sloping off on Saturday 11th to ride over the S&C. Both 5305 and 70013 are worthy attractions!

I would've thought the times would be similar to the Steam Dreams tour on 25th August last year.

Thanks for the replies so far and I also fancy travelling on one of these. I am working 2 out of 4 of the weekends but have some leave I need to take before April so I will probably be available 3 out of 4 of the weekends. I haven't seen 70013 on the S&C since 2008.

Times are on UKsteam for the 2 x Class 5 tour on 28 January. Just about light enough for photography away from Bolton, but getting a bit late on the mountain section of the S&C. unless it's brilliant day.

well I'm glad somebody mentioned it, apart from Mike1522, hope it don't get cancelled through lack of interest, first I've booked on for a few years, and its double headed, unlike all the others, and I've now got a smart phone, whatever that is, so hopefully see a few faces from the north west as it starts and ends here, also unlike the others. I mean a pair of Ian Riley's black fives, dream come true, cheers.

Lucky you, it was 1968 when I last saw it on the S&C! Hope to get to see it up there in February --- in the snow?

Travelling on the third one of these, if anyone has ideas of which one of the locos is likely I would appreciate it greatly. Quietly hoping to get 5305 as it's been a number of years since I had the 5 gti!!

If the two locos are to be stabled at Carnforth then likely we will not know until our spies see which is in steam the day before. However it was rumoured that they would alternate so once the first is run, we 'may' know what will run the following week.

The 4th Feb run is now showing provisionally as an 05.11am start on UK Steam:
    t0204a.htm
although the RTC website still says "We depart from London Euston at around 07:10 with electric traction ..."

Are there engineering works that weekend? It's gonna be a loooooooooooooong day ...
