Does anyone know of any good photos of Wirral Railway locomotives? I have seen a few very grainy ones on a Wirral related website, but that's all. Any pointers?

There is a book currently on sale titled 'The Wirral Railway & its predecessors' by T.B. Maund, published by Lightmoor Press. I was fortunate to pick up an unblemished copy for £12.50 at a collectors fair in Port Sunlight a couple of months ago. It's got lots of good photos of the various classes of loco.

They had an ex L & Y 2-4-2 tank that was bought second hand and the LMS gave it an odd number in the LNWR series, 6762.

I never knew that! Can I justify one for the model railway?

Sort of, as there were some modifications made, including a very large set of coal rails. I'm sure I have a photo somewhere; I'll look tomorrow.

This was Wirral Railway no. 6 purchased in 1921 & was withdrawn from Preston as B.R. 46762 in February 1952.
