Those on the Wizards Express this weekend could, if they wanted, change trains at York and get a ride to Scarborough behind the Duchess on the VT Flyer, which is due in some 15 minutes later, then back on the service to catch the WE at 17.07. Always assuming that you can organise a seat!!!!
Now if Olton was running a few minute late and the Duchess a bit early...

In my experience, Whenever such an occurrence is possible one either runs mega early or mega late; I've had that twice in the past 9 months...

Is it possible that the diesel on the rear is more to do with the shift at York from P10 to Holgate sidings than anything else?

We were a couple of minutes early at Bingley actually. Now in the loop just before Armley Junc. Coach G got added at Carnforth to the front, so is in front of dining. It'll be moved to the other end at York, so front coach both ways. Marvellous!

No idea if the diesel is doing anything. 5972 is doing its fair share of the work, plenty of noise at times.

Sounds like the dead hand of Network Rail - York. Do we not remember last summer and the attitude of those in charge of the ECML? I hope that this is not the start of a summer of disrupted steam east of the Pennines.

I've been told that it's reported elsewhere that there was a lineside fire after 5972 passed before Leeds :(

We thought it was you at Clapham Phil, that's why we waved at you from up on the moor...
Video to follow when it eventually finishes uploading in about 4 hours time.
