    Hello,

Have been helping clear a relatives house and have come across a couple of bits in there.

One, I believe to be a headcode disc/lens off the Woodhead electric locomotives, and the other possibly a ground signal?

Can anyone confirm our suspicion of what they are please- and also would anyone be able to give a ballpark value at all please?

    Regards

The first picture certainly looks like a tail light lens for use on the Woodhead Electrics. The disc slid over one of the light lenses to produce a tail light. Value? Talk to one of the reputable Auction Houses they might give you an idea.

This started a conversation re: Tommy Nameplates. One is in the museum in Utrecht but the other was presented to the Senior Technical Assistant, on withdrawal, that accompanied Tommy to the Dutch Railways after the war. He passed away a few years back and I cannot remember seeing it come up for auction. Anyone know better?

    Thankyou!

The Woodhead light disk has now been moved on to a chap who also has a section of the overhead line in his garden- I'm really pleased it has gone to someone who will appreciate it!

Any suggestions on the other item at all?

    Chris

That's good to know. A few years back there was talk of starting a museum up at one of the stations on the line - did anything come of this?

Not sure. Think not, but cannot give a reason why. That itinerary would have whetted the appetite. I might have been working.
Of course there was the NRS trip I organised that year as well, taking in Shirebrook, Barrow Hill, Tinsley, Wath, Guide Bridge, Reddish. And didn't we finish off at Westhouses on that one as well?
Certainly remember passing Avenue Phurnacite Works chucking out lots of S**t, sorry clag . Ah happy days!!!!!

Looks interesting. I know that they were hoping to get donations and loans of Woodhead related Railwayana.
