    The prime purpose of this small centre run by the South West Main Line Steam Co. is to provide support to the many mainline heritage locomotives that frequent the area every year. It was founded in 1993 when it was discovered British Rail were to remove the turntable from the site which has since been returned to full working order.

    About midday 34067 Tangmere passed on the mainline at Yeovil Junction with the southbound "Weymouth Seaside Express" from Bristol. Later in the afternoon she returned to the centre to be turned, serviced and coaled before returning to Weymouth to rejoin her train.
