    Hi all,

I know that adding decent music to your vids infringes copyright, but some people do it without breaching it and often something with Itunes on it comes up at the bottom, how do i get music on without infringing copyright, buy the song off Itunes?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

Had a look around that site, seems a bit confusing if you ask me!

  4. If you use music played or composed by someone else then there will be a fee to pay to someone. It's often the only way some musicians/composers make a living so using without paying is a bit like stealing. Buying from iTunes (or anyone) does not give free use of the music without further payment. That said, the Performing Rights Society do not make it easy for composers - there is a £100 (?) fee to join for starters. A year ago, I found my PRS membership had lapsed about forty years ago and I considered re-registering my own stuff with the PRS but on balance I reckoned any fees wouldn't cover the membership cost. But then I'm no McCartney :-(

Then there is the other matter that music that appeals to the video maker might not appeal to the video watcher; that the chosen music might actually be a turn off. Also I find that music on videos is all too often inappropriate, that it doesn't actually fit in with the subject.

I don't put music on my YouTube videos for these reasons as well as the issue of copyright. I do put music, jazz from the 30s and 40s, on my DVDs, but then I give those away to friends so the issue of copyright doesn't apply as I don't make any money from them.

    Regards

    Use Royalty Free music.
    It's 100% free to use.
And there is some good stuff out there
