Yes, someone at the NRM said there was something 'royal' happening soon and they didn't mean a birth.

Pr Charles is visiting the NRM sometime in the next day or two, and fortunately he never misses an opportunity to have a Steam run!
Nice touch would be to push bittern back into the line up in the great hall with him on the footplate ! ( now thats what i call style)

Charlie does seem to enjoy a bit of steam, anytime he's on a steam hauled Royal Train he seems keen to get on the footplate.

Presumably, if it is ostensibly steam hauled, the Royal train will have diesel assistance during this dry weather like any other steam working? Will Prince Charles stroll to the front and ignore the flat-fronted interloper?

Yes. I hope HRH isn't responsible for starting a lineside fire!

How many years since a loco entered York MPD in steam?

    The good news.

I sent HRH a link to my fastest steam loco web page. :)

    The bad news.

He's asked for a large chunk of wood with a small indentation in the top and a sharp axe to be at his disposal later today.

Royal Train nearly always has two locos on top and tail (usually two from 67005/006/026) - guessing that one would be taken off to accommodate "Bittern".

remember 4472 being pushed into the Works at the NRM in steam.. it was hauling a train later that day. this was prior to the latest overhaul..
Dont know the the works area was part of the old MPD proper

Saw a few brief news clips of Prince Charles in and just outside the museum entrance on the news but it was in relation to the Royal Baby.

And we turned 46115 in steam a couple of years ago - after hours of course.
