No timetable information on the website for next weekend - the dinosores weekend - is it still being planned or just an oversight?

No news for a while from OaPway - not much excitement. Not much excitement this week either. The concreting around the MPD to make room for the forge etc meant one of the roads into the MPD was lifted before the concrete went down. Our task for this week was to take the chairs off the sleepers and sort both into scrap or reuseable. T Bar Tony was in his element and the bance only helped when it felt like it.

I've seen a few Dinosores around Consall myself, in the vicinity of the Pub - I think the scientific name for them is Beerasaurus, the largest specimens being the Beerasaurus Gargantua, and the incredibly long lived Beerasaurus Crapulensis. Of course it's all covered up by the Government, MI5 etc.....

Lines crossed today a bit. The message I got was 'need to do some bridgeside strimming at Leekbrook' - so we did.
    DSCF2979.JPG DSCF2982.JPG DSCF2984.JPG DSCF2985.JPG DSCF2987.JPG DSCF2988.JPG
It was intended that the work was at Bridge 4 on the line to Ipstones. Would have been a lot less work if I had read and remembered correctly. Leekbrook Junction looks neater however.

A big team today for one of our 'tree' days. After our big clearance near Podmore over the last 18 months the focus this time was to remove trees leaning and overhanging the line just a bit further south. Not only did we get seven trees down but managed to get the trunks reduced to logs and the small branches all burnt.

Had a cracking day Neil, could not believed the difference it made. Just a photo of some of the gang ready to go back after a hard days work.

Excellent working party, and a decent start made to 2015-16 Winter Works. If anyone is interested in joining us for such parties let us know! Plenty of banter and biscuits available, and on many occasions a Brake Van ride along the CVR!

Looks cracking! Must ask though, why do some of the maroon mark ones have red ends? I was always led to believe that this was a West Coast Railway's practice and not the BR livery.

Fantastic work, well done to all involved.

In the very final few years of BR maroon spray painting was introduced and to save on masking ends were also painted maroon rather than black, so it is just about prototypical, although I always prefer black ends, much nicer, especially if you put all the proper transfers on too. :)
