I have it on good authority that it wasn't brake or lubricator oil problems, but sparks from the chimney

I know this has been done over several times, but can't we just respect John Cameron's wishes and enjoy what he has shared with us for over 40 years?

Of course we can, I did say it was me doing a bit of wishful thinking, nothing wrong with that.
That A4 is a grand lump of machinery and I would suggest that there isn't an enthusiast anywhere that's not sad that it's being retired.

It is possible both to respect John' wishes and hope for a change of heart regarding Number 9's retirement. The two standpoints are not mutually exclusive IMO.

Quite so. Seeing 60009 in full flight is far more inspiring than seeing 4468 cold inside a museum and I will miss seeing her doing the job for which she is intended.

Old machinery of all types, bikes, cars, locos, planes, ships etc should be run as long as the engineering expertise and the opportunities exist. Sooner or later they will be condemned to corroding away lifeless. Postpone that day.

She has been running great all weekend at the Mid Norfolk and I had the chance to ride behind her.

Got some nice pics. Which I would share but I cannot upload as everytime I try I get "Security error". I can't see how you fix it.

Would have loved to have had a go behind my old friend No9 this weekend, although that horrible 4 letter word work got in the way. Thanks to all those for sharing their pics though, much appreciated.
