WD 2-8-0s, the only one now in existence had to be repatriated from Sweden. Midland 2F and 3F 0-6-0s both lasted until 1964, Clans, A1s.

Although they didn't survive to near the end of steam, the LBSC K class 2-6-0, withdrawn in one fell swoop in 62, I believe the Bluebell were after one but couldnt get the money together in time, so this must count as a near miss. Tom will confirm no doubt.

That's criminal something so ancient lasted to such a date and didn't make it, Perhaps it's condition was thought beyond saving at that time ?.

They were incomplete, the driving axle and wheelset was removed, along with, presumably, the motion. At the time, this would have been considered too much work to reinstate. As they were still being used as stationary boilers, I would have guessed that the boilers were still in decent condition

The last BR 77xxx went in July 1967, and the last 84xxx went in 1966 I believe. The last 72xxx made it to August 1966. None of any of these classes was preserved.

Of the four Standard classes which became extinct, the last ones were the 82xxx. The last two still in service were at Nine Elms, but four had been transferred to Patricroft and they lingered on until the shed closed in 1968, latterly out of use.

For my nominations, off to 5ft3in gauge territory...

    GNRI UG class 0-6-0 146 (UTA48) & 149 (UTA49) both lasted until 1967. Neither succumbed to the torch until 1968. Here's a link to a photos of UTA49 & 48 respctively, in happier times:

    Worse yet, GNRI SG3 0-6-0 97 (UTA37) wdn 1965 survived intact until 1969. Here's a view of classmate UTA33 (ex-GNRI 20):

Perhaps, in view of that gentleman's "contribution to preservation", the demise of "Sir William Stanier FRS" at Cashmore's (allegedly the only occasion on which the axe-man called the office to check if the loco in front of him should be cut up) was karma at work. Still, it's a pity neither of the Ivatt "Coronations" made it into the heritage era.

I've got an Ian Allan "ABC British Railways Steam Locomotives" dating from Summer 1966, (Different dates for different regions, but basically two years before the end of steam)
Examples of the following now extinct classes were still on BR's books:-
Midland 0F 0-4-0T Deeley Dock tank
LMS 0-4-0ST (47000/1/5) - sorry, can't describe these locos any better than this.
Midland 3f 0-6-0T Johnson Large Midland Tank

Plus J37/J38/77xxx/82xxx and WD 2-8-0 which have already been mentioned.
