    That makes sense..... thanks for that one Tom. I'd never really understood why bogie brakes were discontinued, just assuming that the extra maintenance burden wasn't justified by a matching increase in performance.

    I suppose, too, locomotives with bogies tended to be hauling vacuum braked trains.
