That’s the first time I have heard that so thanks. The DMU we were on certainly seemed to be main line standard with central door locking restricted window opening driver to guard communication etc. Not sure if TPWS is fitted.

The Class 117 does indeed have central door locking, TPWS as well as OTMR [On-Train Monitoring Recorder]. Similarly, as does the single car Class 121 which was refurbished at the same time at Eastleigh..
If you can stomach it - because, in Tom's words ...

From what I have been told, they also live up to their earlier mainline life in having doors difficult to open from the inside. Of course in their BR days you could just drop the window and use the outside handle.

The 121 moved around the yard at Corfe today. Tomorrow we leave Morton’s House Hotel to return home after a great week in the area including a lot of Swanage Railway photography and travel. 31806 has been brilliant throughout as have all the staff . Good to see well loaded trains even at £17 fare each which I suppose is to be expected. The engine crews all said how good the U is and it performed well all week. Thanks to all at the Swanage Railway. My wife wants to return for a Gala weekend but we will see.Hotel costs in the UK are astronomical!

If you look closely Don even the wood pigeons seem to be fans of the U from the 3 sitting on the wire watching the 15:00 from Swanage approaching HX.

Had an absolute fabulous week firing 31806 last week, she's in good form after winter work and the coal the management have procured is spot on. Hoping I get her for any turns in July I pick up...

One train service today, which was a surprise as only last weekend it was showing one steam one diesel. Not sure if diesel non availability, or passenger expectations driving the change.

Looking at the website timetable there is the special event at Wareham of 175 years since the Southampton to Dorchester Railway. So perhaps some volunteers are helping with it?.
Back to to the green timetable next Saturday.

Blue timetable this weekend and Monday=One train service. Next weekend shows the blue timetable for Friday Sunday and Monday, but next Saturday it is the green timetable, This is the pattern for July as well, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays all green, Sunday Monday and Friday blue.
It appears that the coal washing/screening plant at Ffos-y Fran has had its screening system repaired, and is now able to once more supply coal to the heritage sector, though the mine is scheduled to close during November.

On reflection my original post was not clear. When I screenshot the website timetable calendar page on May 27 to have an easy record of which timetable for which day over the rest of the year, yesterday (Saturday 12th) was showing a green service. So it changed from green to blue over the course of the week.
I suspect this may be reflecting a service to expected passenger demand, in the same way the current blue timetable has an earlier start and a middle of the day gap, unlike the blue timetable earlier in the year although the number of trains a day remains the same.
33111 worked the Dorsetman this afternoon, not sure why.

Eddystone arrived back this afternoon, very luckily at the time I was walking down the town to get my hair cut.
Seen arriving at Swanage with the 15:00 service to Norden waiting to depart.
Seems to have collected some foliage along the journey as well.

Neither, driver phoned in sick. No spare. Was expecting grief from disgruntled passengers but nothing of the sort. Good day portering at Swanage

Very hot day down in Purbeck, despite the breeze.
First train of the day at Afflington and "reflecting" on the last departure.

Good to see on FB car 14 has returned for a bit of maintenance before going back in service.

One of the Bulleid coaches 4365 not needed this Summer has gone to Margate, until there is a time to do some work on it.

I just dont get having two steam locos in service when one would suffice given the current circumstances. Yes I know it is the Road to Rails Event today until Sunday but when reference has been made by the railway to the challenges of the cost and availability of coal.......
