Spa Valley Railway Winter Steam Up: 7th - 8th January 2023

Although it will not impact on me it seems strange in the quiet period to end up with two southern based events on the same weekend. I do accept that engineering work may limit choices, but certainly those based in the Greater London conurbation would be a potential market base. When I lived in I regarded both as day trip territory.
Still I suppose the diesels at the Swanage event will appeal to the non steam brigade.

 

Couldn’t find this event on the website anymore, we’re planning on attending, is it still going ahead does anyone know?

The event has been cancelled due to lack of serviceable coaches (including catering vehicles). I believe there is a planned national rail strike that weekend too. Last public running day for the season will therefore be January 2.
